Weekly news: January 26 – February 1, 2026

Big news: Handball Tracker has officially moved from Alpha to Beta! This week was packed with new features, including our brand new Tactics Board, shot outcome tracking, a completely redesigned player rating system, and major mobile improvements.

Introducing the Tactics Board

Plan your plays like a pro. The new Tactics Board lets you draw formations, movement arrows, and highlight zones directly on an interactive handball court. Available for all users.

• Preset formations. Start with standard offensive and defensive setups, then customize to your style.
• Freehand drawing. Sketch plays with your finger on mobile or mouse on desktop.
• Fullscreen mode. Go fullscreen on mobile for a bigger canvas during team meetings.
• Works everywhere. Fully optimized for phones, tablets, and desktops.

Shot outcome tracking

You can now track where shots land — goal, save, post, or miss. This data powers deeper analytics so you can see which players are clinical finishers and which areas of the goal your team struggles to convert.

Redesigned player ratings

We've completely overhauled how player ratings work. The new system includes a baseline defense score that gives defenders proper credit for their contributions, not just goals and assists.

Mobile gets better

We've polished the mobile experience across the board:

• Smoother player dragging. Repositioning players on the court feels faster and more responsive.
• Better suspension tracking. Suspension timers now display correctly even for short durations.
• Create players from lineup. Add a new player directly from the lineup screen without leaving the match.
• Auto-stop timer. The match timer now automatically pauses at the end of each half.

Under the hood

We've upgraded to Nuxt 3.21 and added Vercel Analytics to better understand how coaches use the app. Plus, we've done significant code cleanup to keep things running fast as we add more features.
