Instructions
- 1ATT drives inside from the wing corner looking for a center lane.
- 2DEF positions between ATT and center to force them back to the sideline.
- 3ATT retreats to the corner and resets along the baseline.
- 4DEF recovers and blocks the passing lane while keeping ATT contained.
- 5ATT cuts inside again looking for a shooting angle near the 6m line.
- 6ATT attempts a spin shot; DEF stays balanced and contests without fouling.
Coaching Points
- Position your body between the attacker and the center to force them toward the baseline
- Use your lead arm to cut off the passing lane to the pivot while staying mobile
- The tighter the corner angle, the worse the shot — keep narrowing the attacker's space
- Don't lunge for the ball; controlled pressure is more effective than gambling for steals
- If the attacker attempts a center drive, use your lead foot to cut off the path legally
Common Mistakes
- Letting the attacker cut inside toward the center instead of keeping them on the wing
- Lunging for a steal and getting beaten on the spin move
- Standing flat-footed in the corner instead of maintaining an active defensive stance
- Forgetting to block the passing lane to the pivot, allowing an easy assist
- Fouling with the lead arm when contesting instead of using body position
