Instructions
- 1Position feet shoulder-width apart
- 2Stay between shooter and goal at all times
- 3Extend arms straight up when shot is taken
- 4Keep hands open to maximize blocking surface
- 5Quick footwork to reposition between shots
- 6Block multiple shooters from different angles
- 7Avoid fouling: don't move into shooter's space
- 8Focus on reaction time and positioning timing
Coaching Points
- Jump straight up, never toward the shooter — moving forward causes the foul
- Extend both arms fully on the jump; a bent elbow cuts your blocking surface in half
- Keep your hands open and spread wide — closed fists reduce coverage area significantly
- Read the shooter's shoulder rotation to time your jump — don't jump on the wind-up fake
- Reposition between shooters with quick shuffle steps; crossing your feet leaves you off-balance
