Instructions
- 1A1 passes to A2 at the pivot position as A2 shifts slightly upward
- 2A1 cuts forward toward a support position near A2
- 3A2 delivers the ball to A3 on the lower side who begins a forward drive
- 4A3 drives along the lower wing on a long run toward the far side
- 5A2 repositions higher toward the shooting zone and receives the return pass from A3
- 6A2 fires a jump shot on goal from the high-post area
Coaching Points
- Center player uses the pivot to shield the ball — back to defender, front to goal
- Wings must make timing runs to create the passing angle for the pivot player
- Pass to the pivot, then immediately move to the support position
- Read the pivot's body position before running the wing — they signal when ready
- High-post shot requires the pivot player to be square to goal before receiving
Common Mistakes
- Pivot player receives the ball but has their back to the goal without a plan
- Wings make their runs too early — they arrive before the pivot is ready to pass
- The high-post shot is taken off balance because the pivot is not square to goal
- Defenders collapse on the pivot and the wings do not move to exploit the open space
- Center play becomes the only option — no variation or adjustment when it is defended
