Instructions
- 1P1 passes diagonally forward to P2 positioned on the upper right
- 2P1 cuts on a diagonal run toward the upper wing position
- 3P2 returns the pass to P1 arriving at the wing shooting angle
- 4P1 finishes with a jump shot on goal from the wing
Coaching Points
- Diagonal cut should be at 45 degrees — sharper cuts are harder to defend
- Time your run so you receive the ball while still accelerating
- Wing shot position: plant the inside foot, square the shoulders, snap the wrist on release
- Return pass from the wing must be precisely placed at shooting height
- Commit fully to the wing — half-cuts give the defender two chances to intercept
Common Mistakes
- The diagonal cut is too shallow — the player runs parallel to the goal line instead of at an angle
- The passer waits too long before delivering the ball to the cutting player
- The cutter does not call for the ball, leaving the passer guessing
- The receiving player stops at the wing instead of continuing toward the goal
- Poor timing — the cut and the pass do not arrive at the same moment
