Instructions
- 1RB clears forward to the right side to open the lane for the cross
- 2CB passes to LB on the upper side to initiate the delayed crossing movement
- 3LB drives diagonally forward through the center while CB drops behind toward the lower side
- 4LB delivers the ball to RB on the far right who has repositioned forward
- 5RB sends a backpass to CB arriving in the lower shooting zone
- 6CB fires a jump shot on goal
Coaching Points
- The delay is deliberate — wait for RB to fully clear the lane before crossing
- Cross pass must be delivered on a flat trajectory, not arcing
- CB must be in ready position before the backpass arrives — no late setup
- LB reads the timing by watching RB's movement, not the defender
- Shoot immediately on receiving the backpass — the entire value of the drill is speed
Common Mistakes
- The delay timing is off — the cross happens too early and the defenders are still in position
- The backpass is telegraphed, allowing the defender to intercept
- The crossing player runs into the path of a teammate instead of finding open space
- Players forget to maintain width after the cross, collapsing the attack
- The setup pass is too soft, giving the defense time to adjust
