Instructions
- 1CB passes to RB on the lower side while PV steps down to set the screen
- 2RB drives forward using PV's screen and advances past D2 toward the goal
- 3PV pops away from the screen to an open position at center court
- 4RB delivers the ball to PV arriving in the central shooting zone
- 5PV drives forward and fires a jump shot on goal
Coaching Points
- Pivot holds the screen with a wide base — absorb contact without moving your feet
- RB attacks the screened lane immediately on set — do not hesitate after the screen
- Pop to an open area, not to where you started — find the space the defense vacated
- RB delivers the pass back with vision, not as a reflex — check Pivot is in position first
- Communicate the screen availability with a clear call — 'screen set' before RB drives
Common Mistakes
- Screener pops to a position without shooting range, making the pop useless
- Ball handler does not wait for the screen to be set before using it
- The pop is too slow — the screener is still at the screen location when the ball arrives
- Defender recovers to the popping screener because the ball handler held the ball too long
- The screener always pops to the same spot, making the play predictable
