Instructions
- 1D1 presses P1 immediately as the drill begins to force a quick decision
- 2P1 shields the ball and fires a diagonal pass to P3 on the right side
- 3D2 closes in on P4's side as P3 moves toward center with the ball
- 4P3 distributes to P4 before D2 arrives to apply full pressure
- 5P4 escapes pressure and passes to P2, who returns the ball to P1
Coaching Points
- Shield the ball with your body as you receive — put yourself between defender and ball
- Look away from your intended target first to draw the defender before making the pass
- Make your decision before the ball arrives; two seconds disappears fast under real pressure
- Step laterally to create a passing angle — don't stand still and hope for space
- Keep the pass low and fast; high passes under pressure are easy to tip or intercept
Common Mistakes
- Standing still after receiving instead of stepping laterally to create a passing angle
- Passing directly into the defender's outstretched hand due to a telegraphed throw
- Taking too long to decide — exceeding the 2-second window and getting trapped
- Throwing a high, looping pass that the defender can easily tip or intercept
- Turning the back to all passing options, losing vision of open teammates
