Instructions
- 1P1 launches a high skip pass over the defenders to P5 on the far side
- 2D1 shifts laterally to disrupt the passing lane after the first skip
- 3P5 receives and moves toward center, then skip-passes back to P2
- 4D2 adjusts position to contest the return pass
- 5P2 receives in the center area and skip-passes to P6 on the far side
- 6P1 resets to starting position as the sequence continues
Coaching Points
- Release the ball from a high point to clear defenders — don't loft it from chest height
- Read the defender's position before releasing; the skip pass loses value if telegraphed
- Receiver: step toward the ball and catch with two hands — don't wait for it to arrive
- Keep the pass flat and fast — a slow arc gives the defender time to recover and intercept
- Call your receiver's name as you release so they can track the ball early
Common Mistakes
- Lofting the skip pass too high with a slow arc, giving defenders time to intercept
- Telegraphing the pass by staring at the intended receiver before releasing
- Receiver standing flat-footed instead of stepping forward to meet the ball
- Releasing from chest height instead of a high point, causing the pass to hit the defender
- No verbal communication — receiver is surprised by the incoming ball
