Instructions
- 1Defend in 2-3 zone formation (two front, three back)
- 2Trap ball when it enters trigger zones
- 3Rotate defenders to fill vacated zones immediately
- 4Maintain formation integrity during rotations
- 5Trap zones: wings and extended positions
- 6Rotation sequence: tight trap → adjacent defender supports → previous defender falls back
- 7Never leave deep zone uncovered
- 8Timing is critical: rotate within 0.2 seconds of trap
- 9Communication essential: call rotations loudly
- 10Force high-risk passes or contested shots
Coaching Points
- Call 'trap' the moment the ball enters the trigger zone so the rotation starts instantly
- The rotating defender must move before the trap defender closes — not after
- Adjacent defenders: shift half a zone toward the trap; don't abandon your zone entirely
- Deep zone defender: stay put until two rotations above you have completed — then adjust
- If the rotation breaks down, call it out immediately and reset — don't play through chaos
