Instructions
- 1LW, LB, RB, and RW sprint to clear out toward the sidelines simultaneously
- 2PV clears to the far side of the court to eliminate any double-team option
- 3CB holds the ball at the top of the arc, now isolated 1v1 with maximum space
- 4CB reads D-CB's stance and attacks the weaker side with a controlled drive
- 5CB penetrates toward the 6m line, exploiting the cleared-out space
- 6CB finishes with a bounce shot from close range before help defense can recover
Coaching Points
- Clear players must sprint to the sideline boundary — half-clearing still allows help defense
- CB must commit to the drive or the shot within two seconds; hesitation invites the defender to recover
- Scan the defense immediately — if D-CB cheats deep, CB pulls up for the long-range shot
- If help comes, the closest cleared player crashes back in to receive the kick-out pass
- PV clears to the opposite side, not behind CB — staying close defeats the purpose of the isolation
Common Mistakes
- Clear players jog to the sideline instead of sprinting, leaving help defenders in range
- CB hesitates with the ball instead of attacking within two seconds of the isolation
- PV clears behind CB instead of to the opposite side, clogging the driving lane
- CB always drives the same direction instead of reading D-CB's stance and exploiting the weak side
- Cleared players do not stay alert for the kick-out pass when help defense collapses on CB
