Instructions
- 1SCR moves from the lower right to set a back screen behind DEF near CUT's position
- 2CUT uses the screen and accelerates on a long cut toward the far right side
- 3BH delivers the pass to CUT clearing past the screen with speed
- 4CUT drives forward toward goal and finishes with a jump shot from the right
Coaching Points
- Screener approaches from behind the defender — quiet, controlled steps to avoid a foul
- Cutter reads when the screen is set before committing to the cut
- Use a V-cut before the back screen to pull the defender into position
- Ball handler delivers the pass the moment the cutter clears the screener's shoulder
- Cutter attacks the goal directly after using the screen — do not decelerate
Common Mistakes
- Screener approaches from the side instead of from behind, tipping off the defender
- Cutter commits to the cut before the back screen is set, running into the defender
- No V-cut is used before the screen — the defender is not pulled into the correct position
- The pass is delivered too late — the cutter has already passed the best shooting position
- Screener sets the screen too close and makes illegal contact with the defender
