Instructions
- 1SCR drops from the upper position to set a flat screen at DEF's level
- 2BH drives around the screen on a curving path toward the right side
- 3SCR rolls upward and cuts diagonally toward the goal area after BH clears
- 4BH delivers a pass to SCR arriving near the central shooting zone
- 5SCR finishes with a jump shot on goal
Coaching Points
- Screener plants feet at defender-level before ball handler arrives — no late screens
- Ball handler makes the cut sharp and close to the screen — wide cuts give defenders recovery time
- Screener begins the roll the moment the ball handler's hip clears
- Pass to the rolling screener must be delivered in front of their body, not behind
- If the screener is not open on the roll, ball handler continues to goal
Common Mistakes
- Screener arrives late — the ball handler has to wait and the defender recovers
- The ball handler makes a wide cut around the screen, giving the defender recovery space
- Screener begins the roll before the ball handler's hip has cleared
- The pass to the rolling screener goes behind their body, causing a turnover
- Ball handler commits to using the screen even when the defender goes under it
