Instructions
- 1SCR moves down from the upper position as if setting a screen near DEF
- 2SCR slips the screen immediately and cuts hard on a diagonal toward goal
- 3BH drives forward to the right side, creating a passing angle for the slip
- 4BH delivers the ball to SCR arriving in the central scoring zone
- 5SCR finishes with a jump shot on goal on the move
Coaching Points
- Slip timing is everything — release the screen the instant the defender commits to fight through it
- Roll hard and fast to the goal — the slip works because it's unexpected
- Ball handler must sell the screen-use first so the defender commits to defending it
- Delivery to the slipping screener must be low and leading — into the run
- If the slip is read early, convert it to a normal screen-and-roll
Common Mistakes
- The slip is too early — the screener releases before the defender commits to fighting through
- Ball handler does not sell the screen-use, so the defender does not commit
- The pass to the slipping screener is too high or too late
- The slip becomes predictable because it is used every time instead of mixing with regular screens
- Screener slips but runs to a spot with no shooting angle
