Instructions

  1. 1SCR moves down from the upper position as if setting a screen near DEF
  2. 2SCR slips the screen immediately and cuts hard on a diagonal toward goal
  3. 3BH drives forward to the right side, creating a passing angle for the slip
  4. 4BH delivers the ball to SCR arriving in the central scoring zone
  5. 5SCR finishes with a jump shot on goal on the move

Coaching Points

  • Slip timing is everything — release the screen the instant the defender commits to fight through it
  • Roll hard and fast to the goal — the slip works because it's unexpected
  • Ball handler must sell the screen-use first so the defender commits to defending it
  • Delivery to the slipping screener must be low and leading — into the run
  • If the slip is read early, convert it to a normal screen-and-roll

Common Mistakes

  • The slip is too early — the screener releases before the defender commits to fighting through
  • Ball handler does not sell the screen-use, so the defender does not commit
  • The pass to the slipping screener is too high or too late
  • The slip becomes predictable because it is used every time instead of mixing with regular screens
  • Screener slips but runs to a spot with no shooting angle
