Instructions

  1. 1A1 advances centrally with the ball to pull both defenders.
  2. 2A2 sprints wide to the upper wing; A3 fills the lower wing.
  3. 3D1 drops toward center; D2 shifts to cover A3's side.
  4. 4A1 reads D1's commitment and passes to the open wing (A2).
  5. 5A2 drives deep; A3 moves up as a secondary option on the far side.
  6. 6Ball swings from A2 to A3; A3 finishes with a jump shot.

Coaching Points

  • Wings must sprint to the sideline — width is what creates the advantage
  • A1 reads the first defender to commit, then passes to the opposite side
  • Keep the ball moving; one extra dribble lets the defense reset
  • The third pass should be a shot, not another pass
  • Call out defender positions so A1 makes the right read quickly

Common Mistakes

  • Wings running too narrow and failing to stretch the two defenders
  • Ball carrier dribbling instead of passing, giving the defense time to recover
  • Making one too many passes when a clear shooting opportunity is available
  • Not scanning the court to read which defender commits first
  • Wings arriving at the same depth instead of staggering for multiple passing options
