Instructions
- 1A1 advances with the ball to draw D1's attention.
- 2A1 fires a quick pass to A2 before D1 can close the lane.
- 3D1 drops back to pressure A2 and cut off the direct line to goal.
- 4A2 drives hard toward goal; A1 sprints into support position behind.
- 5A2 reads D1 and passes back to A1 who is now free in the center.
- 6A1 finishes with a jump shot before D1 can recover.
Coaching Points
- Pass before the defender closes — do not wait until contact
- A2 must accelerate to goal immediately after receiving, not after thinking
- A1 sprints into support position as soon as the pass leaves their hand
- If D1 commits to A2, the return pass to A1 must be instant
- Finish with confidence — in a 2v1 the attacker should always score
Common Mistakes
- Holding the ball too long and allowing the defender to close the passing lane
- A1 stopping after the first pass instead of sprinting into support position
- Forcing the shot when the pass-back to A1 is the easier option
- Running side by side instead of maintaining spacing to stretch the defender
