Instructions

  1. 1Blind-side shot: releases from position hidden from goalkeeper
  2. 2Screen (PV) blocks goalkeeper's view of shooter at moment of release
  3. 3Timing critical - pass and shoot while screened
  4. 4Shooter must move quickly off screen into shooting space
  5. 5Don't look at goal directly - use peripheral vision and feel
  6. 6Ball release before goalkeeper can shift position around screen
  7. 7PV must maintain screen position - can't move until after shot
  8. 8Practice angles - 45-degree cuts work best for screen release
  9. 9Different release angle surprises keeper who can't track shooter

Coaching Points

  • Release the moment you clear the screen — every fraction of a second matters
  • PV: hold the screen until you hear the shot, then clear immediately
  • Shooter: use peripheral vision to locate the goal; looking directly telegraphs the move
  • Cut at a sharp 45-degree angle off the screen for the widest blind spot
  • Trust your preparation — commit to the shot without hesitation off the screen
