Instructions

  1. 1LB explodes toward the defensive gap from the left backcourt position
  2. 2CB reads the penetration and slides into open shooting space at center
  3. 3LB kicks out a quick pass to CB before the defense closes down
  4. 4CB receives on the move and attacks the 9m line
  5. 5CB finishes with an immediate jump shot to the far side of goal

Coaching Points

  • Explode on the first step — hesitation kills the penetration advantage
  • Keep the ball low and protected while driving into traffic
  • CB: read the defense, not the ball — move to space before the pass
  • Release the kick-out pass before two defenders fully commit
  • CB: plant and jump in one fluid motion off the catch

Common Mistakes

  • LB hesitates on the first step, giving the defense time to set up
  • Kick-out pass is released too late when both defenders have already closed the gap
  • CB drifts toward the ball instead of moving into open shooting space
  • LB holds the ball too high during the drive, exposing it to the defender's reach
  • CB catches the pass and takes an extra step instead of shooting immediately
