Instructions
- 1P1 sprints forward from start position, dribbling at high tempo across the court
- 2P1 decelerates and cuts sharply right toward cone C1, switching dribble hand
- 3P1 weaves left past C2 with a low, tight dribble to protect the ball
- 4P1 accelerates through C3, planting the outside foot hard before each direction change
- 5P1 finishes the weave past C4 at maximum speed with eyes up scanning the court
Coaching Points
- Plant the outside foot hard before each change of direction — a soft plant bleeds speed
- Keep the dribble low and tight through each cone, not extended out in front
- Eyes up between cones — look at the next cone, not the ball
- Drive with the arms on each acceleration; arm swing generates the burst speed
- Change hands at the cone, not before or after — clean transitions build muscle memory
Common Mistakes
- Dribbling too high through the cones, exposing the ball to defenders in a game situation
- Looking down at the ball instead of keeping eyes up to read the court
- Cutting too wide around cones instead of tight, sharp changes of direction
- Using the same hand throughout instead of switching at each cone
- Slowing down before the cone instead of maintaining speed into the cut
