Instructions
- 1LW starts with a lateral pass to Pivot at center, then moves deeper
- 2Pivot redirects the ball to RW on the right wing
- 3RW sends a back-pass up to Backcourt R at the 9m line
- 4Backcourt R returns the ball to Pivot who pivots and passes to Backcourt L
- 5Backcourt L completes the cycle by passing back out to LW
Coaching Points
- Pivot: face the ball before receiving so you can redirect immediately without turning
- Back-passes must be accurate to the strong hand — a lazy back-pass forces a difficult reception
- LW and RW: hold your position until the ball enters the backcourt, then time your next movement
- Keep the back-pass low and firm; lofted back-passes are slow and easy to intercept
- Every player should know the full sequence, not just their own role
Common Mistakes
- Pivot turns their back to the ball before receiving, requiring an extra rotation step
- Back-passes are lofted and slow instead of low and firm
- Wings move prematurely before the ball has entered the backcourt phase
- Back-pass goes to the weak hand, forcing the receiver to adjust their body position
- Players only know their own role and panic when positions rotate
