Spin Shot - Curve & Accuracy
Players practice the spin shot technique where wrist rotation at release curves the ball around a defender's block, making the trajectory unpredictable for the goalkeeper. Emphasizes finger snap, follow-through, and consistent spin velocity.

Instructions
- 1CB drives forward from center toward the 9m line with the ball
- 2RB moves up on the right side as CB passes to RB
- 3RB immediately returns the ball to the advancing CB
- 4CB receives the return pass and continues toward the defenders
- 5CB releases a spin shot with sharp wrist snap, curving around the block
Coaching Points
- Snap the wrist sharply at release — a slow snap produces no meaningful curve
- Finish with fingers pointing down and thumb rotating inward for topspin
- Release the ball from a higher point to maximize the arc around the block
- Aim at the post-side — the spin will curve the ball back toward the corner
- Practice the wrist snap without a ball first to isolate the technique
Common Mistakes
- Wrist snap is too weak, producing a straight ball with no meaningful curve
- Releasing from too low a point, causing the spin shot to fly into the block
- Over-rotating the wrist and losing control of the ball direction entirely
- Using full arm power instead of prioritizing the wrist technique for spin
- Failing to follow through with fingers pointing down after the release
