Instructions

  1. 1Underarm shot: ball held low, swept upward in fluid motion
  2. 2Used when defender blocks overhead options in tight space
  3. 3Bend knees for lower release point, then explode upward
  4. 4Arm extended forward in underhand bowling motion
  5. 5Ball trajectory starts low, rises as it travels to goal
  6. 6Goalkeeper must read trajectory - different release point confuses
  7. 7Less power than overhead - accuracy and placement critical
  8. 8Practice on knee to master low release techniques

Coaching Points

  • Bend the knees deeply first — the power comes from pushing up, not swinging the arm
  • Keep the ball below the defender's block until the very last moment
  • Aim for the lower corners — the rising trajectory is your deception, not speed
  • Commit to the underarm release; a tentative swing kills both power and direction
  • Practice the release point by kneeling and throwing before adding footwork
