Underarm Shot - Tight Space Technique

Instructions
- 1CB drives forward from center and passes to PV near the 6m line
- 2RB advances on the right as PV redirects the ball to RB
- 3PV shifts position to create space for RB's approach
- 4RB drives into the tight corridor near the 6m line
- 5RB bends low and sweeps an underarm shot under the defender's block
Coaching Points
- Bend the knees deeply first — the power comes from pushing up, not swinging the arm
- Keep the ball below the defender's block until the very last moment
- Aim for the lower corners — the rising trajectory is your deception, not speed
- Commit to the underarm release; a tentative swing kills both power and direction
- Practice the release point by kneeling and throwing before adding footwork
Common Mistakes
- Not bending the knees enough, resulting in a release point that is too high
- Swinging the arm too tentatively, producing a weak shot the goalkeeper easily reads
- Aiming too high on the goal — the rising trajectory already lifts the ball
- Revealing the underarm intention too early, allowing the defender to drop their hands
- Releasing the ball with the palm facing up instead of forward, losing direction control
