Instructions
- 1P1 passes across to P3 in the upper line and immediately cuts diagonally to the lower line
- 2P2 passes across to P4 in the lower line and cuts diagonally to the upper line
- 3P3 advances forward in the upper lane while P4 advances in the lower lane
- 4P3 passes back to P1 who has crossed over, then both lines continue the exchange forward
Coaching Points
- Diagonal movement after passing must be decisive — half-pace jogs lose the exchange benefit
- Maintain parallel formation between the two lines — drifting breaks the pattern
- Pass to where your partner is running, not where they are standing
- Communicate with a nod or hand signal before each cross-line pass
- Keep a consistent gap between lines — too close collapses the spacing, too far breaks timing
Common Mistakes
- Diagonal movement after passing is hesitant — players jog instead of sprinting
- The two lines lose their parallel formation as players drift
- Passes are aimed at where the partner is standing, not where they are running
- No communication before cross-line passes — the receiver is not ready
- The gap between lines is inconsistent — too close or too far
