Instructions
- 1P1 through P4 form a vertical defensive wall with P5 covering behind
- 2The entire wall shifts right together while maintaining equal spacing between defenders
- 3On command, the wall reverses direction and shifts left in coordinated movement
- 4P5 tracks the wall's center position throughout both lateral shifts
Coaching Points
- Shift as one unit — the last player to move sets the timing for everyone
- Maintain the defensive wall's compactness throughout the shift — no gaps
- Keep your feet active during the shift — shuffle steps, do not cross feet
- Call 'shift right' or 'shift left' before initiating so every player moves together
- Wall integrity matters more than individual positioning — stay in line
Common Mistakes
- The last player in the wall moves late, creating a gap on one side
- Players cross their feet during the shift instead of using shuffle steps
- The wall loses compactness — gaps appear between defenders during the shift
- No verbal call before the shift — players react at different times
- Individual players prioritize their own positioning over the wall's integrity
