Instructions
- 1CB passes to RB on the right side to start the ball moving
- 2LW fakes a drive toward the sideline to draw the wing defender wide
- 3LW cuts sharply back-door behind the defender toward the near post
- 4RB delivers a timed pass to LW arriving at the near-post area
- 5LW finishes with a quick standing shot across the GK's body
Coaching Points
- Sell the sideline fake with full body lean — a half-hearted fake fools no one
- Make the back-door cut sharp and explosive, not gradual
- RB: watch the LW's first step to the sideline as your trigger to prepare the pass
- At the near post, shoot quickly — the angle is tight so hesitation is fatal
- Aim across the GK's body to the far side of goal from this position
Common Mistakes
- Sideline fake is half-hearted — not enough body lean to convince the defender
- Back-door cut is gradual and predictable instead of sharp and explosive
- RB delivers the pass too late after the LW has already been picked up at the near post
- LW hesitates at the near post instead of shooting immediately on reception
- Shooting at the near side where the goalkeeper is already positioned for the tight angle
