Instructions
- 1P1 fires a diagonal pass across to P2 on the opposite line
- 2P1 shuffles forward after passing to maintain spacing
- 3P2 redirects diagonally to P3, then P3 crosses to P4
- 4Pattern continues: P4 to P5, P5 to P6, each moving after passing
- 5P6 completes the cycle by passing diagonally back to P1
Coaching Points
- Step diagonally into each pass — never throw from a stationary square stance
- Aim for the receiver's outside hand so they can redirect without resetting
- Keep the passing lanes sharp and narrow; wide diagonal passes telegraph the direction
- Maintain consistent spacing — drifting too close removes the drill's purpose
- Increase tempo only when the previous speed produces zero errors
Common Mistakes
- Throwing from a square stance instead of stepping diagonally into the pass
- Passing to the receiver's wrong hand, forcing an awkward catch and reset
- Drifting toward the opposite line, collapsing the spacing between groups
- Wide, looping diagonal passes that telegraph the direction and lose speed
- Increasing tempo too early before the pattern is clean, causing errors
