Instructions

  1. 1P1 fires a diagonal pass across to P2 on the opposite line
  2. 2P1 shuffles forward after passing to maintain spacing
  3. 3P2 redirects diagonally to P3, then P3 crosses to P4
  4. 4Pattern continues: P4 to P5, P5 to P6, each moving after passing
  5. 5P6 completes the cycle by passing diagonally back to P1

Coaching Points

  • Step diagonally into each pass — never throw from a stationary square stance
  • Aim for the receiver's outside hand so they can redirect without resetting
  • Keep the passing lanes sharp and narrow; wide diagonal passes telegraph the direction
  • Maintain consistent spacing — drifting too close removes the drill's purpose
  • Increase tempo only when the previous speed produces zero errors

Common Mistakes

  • Throwing from a square stance instead of stepping diagonally into the pass
  • Passing to the receiver's wrong hand, forcing an awkward catch and reset
  • Drifting toward the opposite line, collapsing the spacing between groups
  • Wide, looping diagonal passes that telegraph the direction and lose speed
  • Increasing tempo too early before the pattern is clean, causing errors
