Instructions
- 1CB outlets to PV; LB and RB sprint wide as the first wave.
- 2S1 and S2 trail at controlled pace as the second wave support.
- 3PV advances center and delivers to RB on the right wing.
- 4RB drives deep and takes a jump shot to test the defense (first wave).
- 5S1 pushes forward into the scoring zone for the follow-up opportunity.
- 6PV passes to S1; S1 finishes with a standing shot if the first wave misses.
Coaching Points
- Call 'second wave' as you cross half court so the primary players hear support coming
- S1 and S2 position left and right of center — never behind the primary shooters
- Rebound positioning starts before the shot, not after — read the shooter's body angle
- If the defense sets a second line, the second wave attacks the gaps between defenders
- Primary break players must commit fully — partial attacks invite an easy block
Common Mistakes
- Second wave players arriving behind the primary shooters instead of to the sides
- Primary break players pulling up and not committing fully, giving the defense an easy block
- Second wave not calling out their arrival, leaving primary players unaware of support
- Not reading the shooter's body angle for rebound positioning before the shot
- Second wave arriving too early and blending into the first wave instead of providing depth
