Instructions

  1. 1Use visual signals (pointing, hand signals) to direct movement
  2. 2Practice audio cues (whistle, voice commands) for variety
  3. 3Responders react ONLY to signal directed at them
  4. 4Non-signaled players maintain ready position
  5. 5Handler varies signal timing and direction randomly
  6. 6Measure reaction time from signal to movement onset

Coaching Points

  • Stay in a ready athletic stance at all times — a flat-footed responder will always be a step behind
  • React to YOUR signal only; reacting to a teammate's cue is a game habit that costs possessions
  • Handler: vary the delay between signals from 1 to 4 seconds so responders cannot predict the rhythm
  • After each rep, the handler immediately gives feedback on the reaction time — instant feedback locks in improvement
  • Mix visual and audio signals within the same set to develop both sensory channels equally
