Stimulus Response Drill - Ball Direction Changes
Improves reaction to visual and audio cues while moving with the ball. Quick adaptation is vital when match situations change unexpectedly.

4-8 players
Intermediate0.00s / 6.20s
Instructions
- 1Use visual signals (pointing, hand signals) to direct movement
- 2Practice audio cues (whistle, voice commands) for variety
- 3Responders react ONLY to signal directed at them
- 4Non-signaled players maintain ready position
- 5Handler varies signal timing and direction randomly
- 6Measure reaction time from signal to movement onset
Coaching Points
- Stay in a ready athletic stance at all times — a flat-footed responder will always be a step behind
- React to YOUR signal only; reacting to a teammate's cue is a game habit that costs possessions
- Handler: vary the delay between signals from 1 to 4 seconds so responders cannot predict the rhythm
- After each rep, the handler immediately gives feedback on the reaction time — instant feedback locks in improvement
- Mix visual and audio signals within the same set to develop both sensory channels equally
