Instructions

  1. 1P1 passes diagonally up to P4, then runs to take P4's position
  2. 2P4 passes down to P2 and runs to fill P2's spot
  3. 3P2 passes diagonally up to P5, then runs to P5's position
  4. 4P5 passes down to P3 and rotates to P3's spot
  5. 5Continue the figure-8 flow, increasing pace each cycle

Coaching Points

  • Time your run so you arrive at the receiving point as the ball arrives — not before or after
  • Diagonal passes must be flat and precise — arcing passes disrupt the timing
  • Move forward after passing — static players break the figure-eight shape
  • Keep the pattern tight: wide loops lose the coordination challenge
  • Increase speed after 2-3 successful cycles to raise the warm-up intensity

Common Mistakes

  • Players run straight lines instead of following the diagonal figure-8 shape
  • Arriving at the receiving point too early and standing still waiting for the pass
  • Arcing or lobbing passes instead of throwing flat and direct
  • Players forget to move forward after passing and block the pattern
