Instructions

  1. 1A1 starts with the ball outside 9m, D1 closes in to apply pressure
  2. 2A1 drives toward goal using feints to create separation from D1
  3. 3A1 makes a second move to beat D1 and reach shooting range
  4. 4D1 mirrors and contests while A1 attacks the angle
  5. 5A1 releases a jump shot over D1 toward the upper corner

Coaching Points

  • Use your body to protect the ball, not just your arms
  • Create separation with a sudden change of direction, not raw speed
  • Decide your shot side before you start the drive — don't improvise late
  • Use the feint to shift the defender's weight, then attack the opposite foot
  • Finish the shot quickly after the feint while the defender is still recovering

Common Mistakes

  • Attacker relies on pure speed instead of using feints to create separation
  • Holding the ball away from the body, making it easy for the defender to strip
  • Taking too many dribbles before attempting the shot, giving the defense time to recover
  • Shooting without setting the feet, resulting in an off-balance shot
  • Telegraphing the shot direction by leaning the body before the release
