Running Pass Triangle

Three players continuously pass in a triangle while all three jog in the same circular direction, combining constant movement with ball delivery into a running teammate. Classic warm-up drill for passing and spatial awareness.

Instructions

  1. 1Three players form a triangle and all jog clockwise simultaneously
  2. 2P1 passes ahead to P2 while both are in motion
  3. 3P2 passes to P3 who continues the circuit without stopping
  4. 4P3 completes the loop by passing back to P1
  5. 5Reverse direction counter-clockwise after 90 seconds

Coaching Points

  • Pass ahead of the receiver — into their run
  • Do not slow down to receive
  • Keep the triangle shape even while moving

Common Mistakes

  • Passing directly to where the receiver is standing instead of leading them
  • Players slow down or stop to receive the pass
  • Triangle shape distorts as one player runs faster than the others
  • Passes are too soft and arrive behind the running receiver
