Instructions
- 1Feeder passes the ball from mid-court to Shooter positioned near the right side
- 2Shooter receives and immediately fires a jump shot at the upper goal corner
- 3Feeder delivers a second pass to Shooter who resets at the shooting position
- 4Shooter launches another jump shot targeting the lower corner of the goal
Coaching Points
- Pick the corner before you receive the pass — deciding during the shot kills both power and accuracy
- Rotate from the hips first, then shoulder, then elbow, then wrist — power travels through the kinetic chain in sequence
- Snap the wrist through the release point; a locked wrist costs 20-30% of potential shot speed
- Follow through fully until the hand is pointing at the target — cutting the follow-through short flattens the trajectory
Common Mistakes
- Deciding which corner to target during the shot instead of pre-selecting before receiving
- Firing the kinetic chain out of sequence — arm before hips — losing rotational power
- Locking the wrist at release instead of snapping through, reducing shot velocity
- Cutting the follow-through short, causing the trajectory to flatten and miss wide
- Rushing the shot without establishing a balanced stance before the throw
