Players run in waves from sideline to sideline in staggered rows, practicing coordinated group running and spatial awareness across the full court. Builds aerobic capacity and court coverage habits.

Instructions

  1. 1Wave 1 (three players) sprints across the full court together
  2. 2Wave 2 launches when Wave 1 reaches halfway
  3. 3Both waves maintain tight formation and equal spacing
  4. 4Wave 1 returns along the same line after reaching the far side
  5. 5Increase pace on each successive wave run

Coaching Points

  • Keep waves tightly together — no straggling
  • Maintain equal spacing between players in each wave
  • Look left and right before crossing the court

Common Mistakes

  • Waves lose their line — some players sprint ahead while others lag behind
  • Players do not maintain equal spacing within their wave
  • Starting the next wave too early, causing collisions at mid-court
  • Jogging pace drops significantly on return runs
