Delayed Wing Attack with Setup Play
The left wing holds position patiently while the ball circulates through the backcourt, waiting until the defense shifts, then explosively attacks the now-open 6m line. Teaches patience, reading defensive shifts, and the timing of a delayed wing attack.

Instructions
- 1CB passes to RB on the right to start the backcourt ball circulation
- 2RB swings the ball across to LB, shifting defensive focus to the left side
- 3LW holds position patiently on the wing, pinning the defender in place
- 4Once the defense shifts, LW explodes toward the 6m line on the left
- 5LB delivers a timed pass to LW who finishes with a standing corner shot
Coaching Points
- LW: stay still and patient — moving too early alerts the defense and closes the gap
- Watch the defender's eyes and weight shift, not the ball, to time the attack
- LB: deliver the pass at the exact moment the LW begins the cut — not before
- LW: attack the 6m line at full speed as soon as the defender commits to the ball side
- Trust the system — the delayed timing only works if all players hold their roles
Common Mistakes
- LW moves too early, alerting the defense and closing the open space on the wing
- Ball circulation in the backcourt is too slow, allowing the defense to reset
- LB delivers the final pass before the LW has started the explosive cut
- LW attacks at half-speed instead of exploding into the 6m line at full pace
- Backcourt players fail to sell the ball circulation as a genuine attack threat
