Diagonal Sprint and Pass

Players sprint diagonally from corner to corner, receiving and returning a pass at the center from a feeder before finishing the sprint. Trains receiving at speed and passing while decelerating.

Instructions

  1. 1Runner 1 sprints diagonally from the corner toward center court
  2. 2Feeder delivers a pass as the runner reaches the midpoint
  3. 3Runner catches, returns the ball, and sprints to the opposite corner
  4. 4Runner 2 starts the diagonal sprint from the next corner
  5. 5Feeder feeds each runner in sequence through all four corners

Coaching Points

  • Eyes up to the feeder the entire sprint
  • Catch at full stride if possible
  • Pass back quickly — no dribbling

Common Mistakes

  • Slowing down before reaching center court to receive the pass
  • Taking extra dribbles after the catch instead of passing back immediately
  • Running in curved paths instead of true diagonal lines corner to corner
  • Feeder timing the pass too early or too late for the runner's stride
