Coaching Points
- Defender stays in a low ready stance
- React to hips, not feet or hands
- Short choppy steps in transitions
Common Mistakes
- Shadow player watches the leader's feet instead of their hips and core
- Standing too upright instead of maintaining a low defensive stance
- Crossing feet during lateral movements which causes tripping
- Shadow player anticipates instead of reacting, leading to wrong-direction commits
- Leader moves in predictable patterns instead of varying timing and direction
