Zigzag Court Run

Players sprint diagonally across the court in a zigzag pattern, changing direction at each cone or marker. Activates the legs, core, and lateral movement muscles needed for handball.

Instructions

  1. 1Players line up staggered along the left sideline
  2. 2Sprint diagonally across the court to the opposite sideline
  3. 3Plant and cut sharply back on the opposite diagonal
  4. 4Continue the zigzag pattern across the full court length
  5. 5Each player follows in sequence with slight delay

Coaching Points

  • Stay low through the turns
  • Plant the outside foot firmly before changing direction
  • Drive with the arms on each sprint

Common Mistakes

  • Players round the turns too wide instead of planting and cutting sharply
  • Decelerating too early before the line instead of touching it at full speed
  • Crossing feet during direction changes which risks ankle injury
  • Starting the next diagonal before fully reaching the sideline
